Hot lion-taming tip
When you think of a lion tamer, what image pops into your head?
If you’re anything like me, then it's probably something like: “A circus performer wearing a bright top hat and coat, fending off a lion with a whip in one hand and a chair in the other.”
But wait… a chair?
Why a chair?
In my 33 years of life, I’ve never understood why a stereotypical lion tamer would use a chair to defend himself from a 500 lb lion, rather than a big shield or something.
Until last week, when I finally found out why.
You see, there was once a famous lion tamer called Clyde Beatty, who discovered that a chair would “break” something in the hyper-focused feline brain. Apparently, lions will get confused when faced with too many similar targets (i.e. the four legs of the chair), and they can’t decide which one to attack first so they freeze up.
So that’s how lion tamers became famous for carrying chairs.
Anyway, here’s why I’m telling you this:
One, because I recently recorded a podcast with a woman called Geralynn Cada, a pet industry veteran with such a wide breadth of experience that she’s even worked with famous lion tamers.
And two, because just like Beatty’s lions couldn’t choose one of the four chair legs to attack, I can’t choose which one of the many nuggets of wisdom Geralynn dropped during our conversation is my favourite.
Here's just a small taste of what you'll discover when you listen in:
➤ How Geralynn took a failing “weed” business, and built it up into two highly successful pet brands…
➤ What it was like to train animals for Siegfried and Roy's famous Las Vegas stage shows (yes, those flamboyant German guys with the white lions and tigers)...
➤ Think the pet industry is completely saturated, with too much competition? Think again. Geralynn reveals the #1 hottest and most underestimated opportunity in the pet industry right now – a lucrative niche with plenty of room to grow bigger...
